I a professionally-trained commercial artist and cartoonist. You can imagine the doodles I have in some of my notebooks. When I was still an Army officer, I'd endure a weekly unit status meeting for the Brigade, which rarely ever had anything I needed to know. My doodles there were quite legendary. I did a 2-page mural in my GSA notebook showing French cavalry crashing into a formed square of Scottish Highland infantry at Waterloo, as historically accurate as my memory would allow.
Lots of B-17s fighting off attacking 109s and 190s, too. Other officers (and most of the warrant officers) would sometimes fight each other get to sit next to me, to have something to watch while the meeting droned on.
My favorite was a two-segment cartoon where a modern soldier from our unit was under fire on the DMV at our division HQ in Korea, screaming into a radio for indirect fire, and on the other end was someone from 1950s Korean war, on the same freq. clearly talking to his modern counterpart, using the pre-NATO phonetic alphabet. The caption read, "There are always Comms... in the Twilight Zone."
I plan on compiling my real graphics into a book sometime in the next year, and maybe I should go hunt down those notebooks to see if should include some of them, too...

Mar Morris' father did some of those drawings above during his war time stint at Vought in Connecticut!
