FL Update (including the other side of "Toulouse Nuts")

Sat Jan 23, 2016 6:45 pm

Was in FL last week and stopped by American Aero Services - I was wondering which P-51 they had nearing completion so I took a photo intending to post it here. I was pleasantly surprised to have my question answered in Jim H's post on the 18th before I even had to ask. I will post some photos here so as not to hijack his interesting thread:

I was fortunate enough to be there on the last day of spring maintenance for the Collings Foundation fleet - they were heading off on tour the next morning:

Got to see 909 start up and take off to run in a new engine (or two).

Good to see the P-40B back on it's gear - looks to be in the final paint stage:

These were out just off of the ramp:

Took a few more shots but it seems I have maxed out my storage on Photobucket.

Also stopped by Kissimmee Air Museum - worth a stop at only $10 admission. Race 38 is still in pieces:

Thom was just returning from a guest flight in one of his T-6's - he says Reno is definitely on and it sure sounds like he plans to be there. Here's a couple of the other birds:

Both cool places! All for now - back to lurking.
