I found this while thumbing through gofundme.com. Im not sure if they are trying to convert the F-86 into a playground, or build a look alike?

Looks like they want to convert the DOG into a piece of gym equipment.... RETARDs.....

Walks on the wings and a McDonalds twisting slide on the tail... Cut me a break...

We had one in our local playground that the slide went over it, keeping the plane intact. Disappeared from the playground in the late 60's. I assume it was still owned by the Air Force museum. Another local city had a T33 with a slide over it. It was sunk into asphalt up to it's hubs with an ugly metal replacement canopy. The city tried to give it away then found that they couldn't as it was Air Force Museum property. It is now fixed up on display in it's own little park next to the Police station.

From the notes on the drawings it sounds like they want to make a F-86D-looking playground. I get the impression that no real Sabre dogs will be harmed. A WIX member in the area should get involved, it would be a fun project.

I'm picturing something like this but in the rough shape of a neat old airplane instead of a neat old Jeep:

Not a C-model F-86, that's for sure: F-86H maybe?

Well that seems a little harsh.

That gofundme page is 18 months old, here is the Facebook group for the park:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/savetheplane/

There proposal was to create an entirely new play structure shaped like an F-86, they say they cleaned up the plane because:

Quote:
As per the contract the village has with the United States Air Force, when this plane came to the village, the contract clearly stated that it was only supposed to be used as a static display, never to be used as a playground. For the past 49 years the village allowed the plane to be played on and utilized as a playground. Letting people play on the plane would it not only void the contract with the United States Air Force it would also result in the immediate extraction of the plane from Monroe to be used for scrap. And if anybody chooses to tear down the fence, youth or adult, criminal charges will be brought up on that person. If anyone has any problems with this, please contact the United States Air Force

They've raised 300 bucks in a year and a half, you may have nothing to worry about.
