From Producer Nancy Spielberg - to me this is a must see. To be screened this year at OSH. Additionally, iTunes and DVD for sale, for those not able to attend. Awesome to have this story properly told while the heroes are still here...fascinating to have this valiant (and often forgotten) story told with this level of talent. It is an interesting documentary. I watched it on Netflix several months ago. Just FYI. I don't remember if their was a thread about it on Wix back then or not.

I think part of it was filmed in Chino at POF. They repainted their Buchon project's fuselage for the filming/interview. I remember the trailer was out but not sure if the entire movie was featured.

The S199s were apparently horrible on take off and landing, worse than a 109 due to the different engine and propellor combination.
So much so that later when they were using a mixed group of P-51s, Spitfires and the remaining S199 they would land the S199's last so that if they crashed or ground looped they would not block the landing of the others.
I don't know how that worked given the short range of the 109 derivatives.
A classic example of use what you can get.

I seem to recall they did the filming at Duxford using the Aircraft Restoration Company Buchon, flown by John Romain (as seen in the trailer).
