Unique Canadian P-40 for sale!!!!

To fly or not to fly.......

For those who know the story of this bird. What would you do? Do we have enough dataplate restoration in the air.

Or do we sacrifice its originality??????

I think I would be OK with a ground bound keeper personally.

I would keep it as is and put it in a museum. This needs to be at the CASM in Ottawa and move the one at the CASM to the RCAF Museum in trenton. The CASM does sometimes do engine run ups with its aircraft and I think this would look nice beside their Hawker Hind and the VWoC P-40 with all three running up.

Also, would the Canadian government let it leave the country? Wonder why an outfit in NZ is handling it?

Why would it's originality be sacrificed? I'm not an A & P, but barring any corrosion, I think it probably would only need an IRAN & have it's engine checked over real good. I don't see a need for it to have a ground up restoration that would sacrifice any of it's originality or even a need to have any major sheet metal replaced.

There's this thing called the internet...........means you can sell stuff anywhere. Classic Wings have been selling aircraft on behalf successfully for a long time now. Plus us Kiwis now how to haggle!

I'm surprised this hadn't been posted earlier, CW has been advertising this one for more than a year. It looks like a truly gorgeous machine.

George let me sit in it once. It is a special machine. Whatever happens, I hope it is not touched and would love to see it reach a larger audience.

It's a nice "original" airplane (it's wing is supposedly from a different P-40E) but it's not Guy Gibson's Lancaster or Gentile's Mustang. I'd overhaul it and put it back in it's original markings and fly it. Or trade it for the Rockcliffe P-40 (plus a lot of buck$) and restore that one.

There are four pages and a centrefold in Classic Wings 90 from Aug 2013 and the plane was for sale then. Good article that explains the significance of the plane stemming from it being "absolutely stock".

Is this the one that was purchased surplus and had its wings cut off to move it? I'm lame on P40's, and for most warbirds for that matter, but the only "Shiny" P40 I remember reading about was that one. I think the dudes son was posting on here years ago that "It will never be sold!".
