Quote from the guys leading the effort...
Quote:
All,
In a stunning reversal of a previous vote by City Council to support the loan of a B-58 from the Air Force Museum to the City, the Council voted tonight to turn down the loan and effectively kill any chance of a B-58 returning to the City of Fort Worth.
Council members Jungus Jordan and Zim Zimmerman voted for the loan.
This is disappointing news for all of us who have worked with the City, the B-58 Association, and the AF Museum to bring this aircraft back home for the people of this City. We did our part and stepped up,
Only time will tell how this affects us and our future. For now we have an event to put on. Hope to see you at Hops and Props.
Thanks for your support,
Jim
Gotta love the City of Fort Worth....they like to crow about their aviation history...going back to before WWI...and do nothing to preserve or celebrate it.
Many groups over the years have tried and failed to get the city on board with the idea of a museum...
The B-36 was to be the center piece of one great idea....then...POOF!
This latest mess sits squarely on the shoulders of the city's squad of lawyers and their fear of nothing....grrrr...
