To offset - somewhat - the depressing news about the Chanute B-58 not going to Fort Worth, I just checked the GoFundMe site for the XB-47, and as of three days ago:
Flight Test Historical Foundation wrote:
An effort was started last year to disassemble, move and reassemble the XB-47 from Rantoul, Illinois to the Air Force Flight Test Museum at Edwards AFB, California. Thanks to the support of many, we have raised the necessary funds to relocate this aircraft!

Now comes the tasks of restoring this great aircraft back to its original configuration. Private funds must be used to support this effort, so again, your help is very much needed. With your help, we will achieve our goal of preserving this truly historic aircraft for future generations.

The Flight Test Museum is chopping up their B-52D, but now the XB-47 is going to Edwards? Geez, I hope the B-47 does not suffer the same fate in a few years. There is already a B-47E on the ranges.

I was told by the Director of the Air Force Flight Test Museum at Edwards that the plan was NOT to move the entire aircraft due to costs. The plan was to remove major parts (engines) and strip the XB-47 for parts for the B-47B that is already at Edwards AFB. I was told the B-47B is completely stripped.
Maybe that is still the plan, maybe not.
