guys, I cleared out some old hangers yesterday and found all kinds of interesting stuff and I need some help, didnt know what section to post this in...its a yaw actuator for North american aviation built in1955...can u guys give me some info

In the world of helo's that I worked on, we had a yaw series actuator. In simple terms, it was built into the push/pull rod and received/gave input for the AFCS (automtatic flight control system. Pitch and collective had them also. I'd speculate the part you have there is something similar that electrically dampened/controlled/assisted with the flight control surface inputs and feedback.

This is the tech order overhaul instructions for it: 5A9-2-24-3 OVHL INSTR -- PITCH AND YAW DM

I think it is a NAA/Rockwell Collins Autopilot component.

F-100 maybe?

Are there any part numbers cast into the mechanical components? XX-XXXXX?

I didn't see any...I was thinking it was off of the same kind of plane being the vintage it is.....wish it was off a mustang!...lol
