How was it? I am actually out at Chino right now but was wondering how the crowds were and what all showed up.
It was pretty good. Heavy iron turnout was two P-51s, B-25 and TBM, plus the resident Harpoon on static. "Show Me" was unable to make it, but the show was able to secure "Champaign Gal" from Champaign Aviation museum as a replacement. Lots of trainers and L-birds, plus a couple helicopters showed up as well. I stayed from when the gates opened until around 1:45 and most of the aircraft there flew except one of the P-51s. They put a lot of aircraft up in the air together at 11:00 for a warbird flight that was pretty cool.
Not sure what to think of the crowd. It seemed really thin, but then again there weren't a ton of tickets available so I don't know how it compared to what they were projecting. I hope they did well at the gate because I really felt like I got my money's worth. Had a good time and thought the warbird turnout was worth the trip.
It sounds like the Harpoon is getting closer to being back in the air and the AMHF is fundraising for a building to house her in. I really hope they are able to make both of those things happen.
