Just a WAG, but it could be either Bu49956 or Bu50000. Does anyone know if either of these airframes fought in the Solomons?

Projects like these I feel are becoming rarer and rarer with each year. While there are alot of pieces to this one, doesn't $850,000 seem a bit high? I would imagine maybe, MAYBE $400,000, but for $850k, Id go out and buy something else that was flyable. And thats hard to say for me, considering I want no less than a fleet.

I think Bryan is right. My money is on Bu. No. 49956, but would love confirmation.

Or perhaps NZ5227, can't make out the #'s

From the Registry listings, it sounds like what's left of both of them:

The important point would be how much of what you get would be flyable for the 850.If its a pattern bird forget it.

I love the Corsair and if I had the money I'd dish it out, but I do feel it is too much.

A couple flying Corsairs just sold on Platinum for around 1 million snd 1.5 million. I know the previous owner of one of them.

Really Scooby! Can you be specific? I don't recall seeing anything like your description. If memory serves me correct I don't think a flying corsair for less than 1.5 million has sold for upwards of 15+ years, and that's conservative! probably over 20 years.
I'm saying your statement is not correct.

This plane/project surfaced 10-15 years ago for sale down under and it didn't have proper paperwork then. Does it now? Courtesy isn't listing an N number or any type of serial/construction number. Can someone at Courtesy verify its proper identity? I don't mean speculative as some of these other posts but specifically with paperwork.
The suspicious thing is there is so much listed as to appear to build value but I see the truth of the mater as it's just a bunch of parts and "Buyer Beware".
I wonder why it even made it to Courtesy for sale, isn't the Warbird community so small that if it was rumored to possibly go up for sale(as a ligitimate airplane) someone with connections or deep pockets would have quickly and quietly bought it?

Actually I think I may be wrong. The person I know is Blane Fowler, I now think he was asking 1.7 million when he sold. He had the F4U-7 that was up for sale this year for 2.5 million. I don't think it sold.

I thought Platinum had an F4U-1 listed for 1.3 million this year. Perhaps I was wrong.

Thanks Simon, I didn't think the Corsair formerly owned by Blain Fowler sold. As I have seen it listed in other locations.

But I did think the F4U-1 listed on your site sold, I guess it didn't sell either as I see no Corsairs in your sold tab.
