Hi All,
I just learned that the Monument that was erected at Lake Louisa, Clermont, FL, to honor Uncle 1st Lt. Dean Gilmore, and all other Aviators killed in Florida, during WWII, was destroyed by one of the Hurricanes that hit Florida this past season. I am just heartbroken! First his P51 B, is being restored to look like something it never was, and now his monument is destroyed.
I spoke to Officials in Florida and they told me that they are planning on replacing the monument when they have the funds. I am launching a fund raising effort, in early January to do all I can to help.
If any of you are not familiar with Dean, and his story, and would like more information please feel free to contact me.
If anyone would like to contribute to the replacement of the monument, please send your donations to:
1st. Lt. Dean R. Gilmore WWII Monument fund

Thank you all, and I wish each and every one of you a blessed Holiday, and a healthy new year!
Karen Gilmore-Trimble
