Interesting stuff on the Fighter Factory in VA

While looking around the Fighter Factory I can across this info on the new museum & airport being built for the Museum. Looks great!

They will have a WW2 German hanger (imported form the Motherland) and a control tower from the airfield at Goxhill England.

Check it out! I hope they stage an airshow there in the future!

Gotta love a man with a vision!

I've really enjoyed watching Gerry Yagen's grow his collection from a couple of planes into a bona fide world-class attraction. I figure the potential of the new facility could rival the Fantasy of Flight Museum if the collection continues to grow as it has. It'll definitely be right up there with Udvar-Hazy when it comes to penning my itinerary for the next trip to the Norfolk area. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I think "Wow" about covers it! Not that long ago Mr Yagen won the undeclared race to get the first Soplata collection warbird back into the air (the "Wild Cargo" Mitchell); now this spectacular development that is going to make a voyage to Virginia a necessity before long. Jerry Y rocks...

Can anyone elaborate on the following(?):The Fighter Factory website states that they found German aircraft buried on the site of a WWII airfield in Indiana. However, the related image only shows aircraft parts.

That is years old, do a Google for 'Freeman Field Dig' on Google. Biggest parts found were a tail and some engines and props IIRC

I saw the parts that were dug up at the Freeman Field Museum (only live about 60 miles away). There are pictures and details about the dig in one of the "Forgotten Fields" books.

The fighter Factory in Virginia has some of the most beautifully restored aircraft that I have seen. Not to mention some rare Russian warbirds, and a F4U,AD-4,Hurricane, Spit, ME-108,Me-208,P-51D, and more..........all are immaculate ! I live in Richmond Virginia and have the chance to see them several times a year, at nearby airshows. If you get the chance to visit them at their museum....do yourself a favor.....Do so......and take a lot of film. When I was there in 2003, I was able to photograph their P-40, and F4U (FG-1?) durring engine tests on the flightline. No crowd, my son & I and the nice folks that work at the Fighter Factory......& no one else ! Dont get any better than that. If you want to see an I-16, I-152 ,I-153 or Po-2 (U-2)....All airworthy...this is the place for you ! Abbott.
