Hello,

I am just wondering if there any other "known" WW II Japanese warbirds (besides the "Tony" fighters under rebuild in Australia) under active restoration in NZ or Australia. I am aware of all the museum survivors, etc. but curious are there any others out there under rebuild (static or flying).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ron

Hi Ron

None at present that I know of but I think these are a secret waiting to happen in the warbird world - once they sort out the Oscars in the US - how is that going- and get them flying plus a few more Zeros then I think things will get a lot better for Japanese restorations. There is as you would know a fair bit of Dinah material here and I think one of those would make a great project but how and when and who are good questions - there is probably some chance of someone buying the material from the UK that was imported and rebuilding it "downunder"

Kindest regards
John p

Hello John,

Many thanks for your reply. I also loved your great pictures on your website!

Regarding the Dinah airframe/parts "Down Under", I never heard of that before. Can you tell me more details?

Cheers,

Ron

Hi Ron

A few were shot down over/near Darwin and the relics are in the Northern Territory museums - enough to form the basis of a restoration given the Cosford one exists and what a warbird that would be - i have some pics and will try to find them

Regards
John P
