In keeping with the NIB aircraft started earlier with the BF-109. What ever happened to the supposed site found off of the coast of Oz that contained still crated Mustangs that were supposed to be in amazing shape ? More pie in the sky ?

Rick

It all has to do with definitions

hundreds of aircraft were dumped - no dispute - photos exist and Avengers and corsairs have been dredged up from various sites - corrosion varies between bad and fairly good.

However the sites are scattered and you are talking huge areas and great depths - high costs etc

Most of the aircraft were dumped off the rear of carriers making speed so you would need to do a lot of expensive surveys to find these machines

All doable but who is going to do it and who is going to pay.

Regards
John P

John, the aircraft story that I'm talking about were the ones found in crates and supposedly the RAN was guarding this particular site until a determination in the courts was made. It was another story that sounded too good to be true.
