EDIT: I'm going to start over with this thread. The original facebook post didn't work out the way I would have liked. So I think many of you will like this thread content instead.
This is another great LIFE series with some outstanding photos of USAAF training activities at the Army Airfield at Orlando FLA in 1943.

I love the B-17 fuselage turned into a ditching trainer.
Notice that it and the flying example are both "E"s.

Check the photos again - the B-17 fuselage is a wooden mockup. Looks like it was set up on a small barge to be towed out into the lake for training; but another base had a real fuselage that was used in the how-to-ditch training film. Compared to a real one, the mockup frankly looks like an enlarged version of an Aurora model! :lol:
