Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk

Since we were on subject of rare if not extinct amphibians. I was wondering about another obscure Curtiss Example the SC-1 Seahawk.

Do any survive today in Museums? Or are there any known unrestored airframes or wrecks of this type? Thanks

unlike the turkey seamew, the seahawk was a hot bird performance wise for a sea plane scout according to accounts i've read. i like the looks of it's lines too. i don't think it saw actual ww 2 service, i could be wrong though..... possibly used operationally in the last months of the conflict at best. somebody enlighten me!!

Thanks for bringing those pics back to my attention. hat is an awesome collection of photos.

I have a question. I've been looking a lot of Seahawk pics lately and I know that it could have it's floats removed and fixed landing gear installed. But from the pictures, looking at the panel lines it looks like the SC-1/2s had folding wings. Can anyone confirm this?

i've never seen a pic of the seahawk with wheeled gear. but i've seen os2u kingfisher, curtiss seagull both biplane & uglified monoplane versions & the turkey seamew all with fixed gear accessories. from what i recall the seahawk had folding wings for extra storage, but i can't verify.

rather narrow gear width!!!! a real wobblin goblin more than likely!!! the wheel gear "almost" looks to have dna related to the grumman f4f wildcat. definetely prettier on pontoons!!
