Nice! Can't wait to see the results after the fine folks at Pima get done with it!

Are they going with its actual markings or some famous ace paint job?

As it happens it really is an ace's airplane. It was assigned to JG5 on the Eastern Front and was being flown by Lt. Theodor Weissenberger when it was lost due to an engine failure. At the time he had been credited with over 30 kills. He survived the war and ended it flying the Me262 as the commander of JG7 with a total of 208 kills.

Who was restoring it prior to Pima's acquisition? Was it being restored to flying condition?

We acquired it from a gentleman in California. He has been working on it for a couple of years. It was always intended to be a high quality static restoration.

Very cool. Glad to see PIMA acquire it! I'm sure at the rate your restoration depart works, she'll be done in about a week. Any updates on the A-20 or B-26?

We have a DB601 core for it. The engine is far from complete but it will hold a prop and the exhausts.

Little more than a week, I'm afraid. The B-26 and A-20 are still on the back burner at this point.

I totally missed this news until someone linked to it at another forum! I saw the topic title and didn't even think to click. Great news for the museum!
