An inter-war 1930's French Morane-Saulnier MS.315E (reg. G-BZNK). A very skillful forced landing!

Didn't Lt. Bruno Stachel die testing one of those? :(

I think the plane in the Blue Max was an MS.230, similar but not quite the same.

Apparently the curse of the Rotec strikes again.

Seriously?... This thing was flying a Rotec?...

I love radials, but it seems these engines have a worse reputation than R-1300's.

How about the guy who's had two of them fail on the same air frame:

Two photos of the MS315 taken at Bodmin Airfield earlier in the day.

Typical lazy press reporting: I've seen a number of news reports describing it as "World war One-era", which makes one wonder, but the best was its description as a "biplane", which even the laziest journo would surely notice?

The Blue Max MS is quite a bit larger and does not have a Rotax.

As far as the reporting...as a former reporter who is now rather fed up with his former profession and colleagues, allow me to defend them in this case. In looks and technology, the MS in this story is closer to a WWI aircraft than WWII. Few aviation buffs in the US even know what the type is.
As the drill sergeant said in Stripes..."Lighten up, Francis"...:)

Nope. Sorry. That's just lazy half-assed reporting. If that sort of thing were applied to any other subject there would be lawsuits eventually.
"The suspect driving a jacked up redneck pickup truck"
"The shoddy fleabag hotel caught fire"
"The half naked slut was asking for it"

If you don't know, or can't be bothered to ask someone who does, don't add it to your story.

Looks like the aeroplane might even be able to be reused!

BTW, the MS230 used in the Blue Max is in storage at Chino.
