Are there any current flying ME-109's with proven combat history? I know that FHC's 190 is a combat veteran. Also would like to know if the Collings 190 has a combat history as well. I know that it has been discussed on the Form regarding combat history of some of the current P-51's etc. But would like to know a little bit about the current AXIX aircraft that are flying or being restored to fly?
Any one out there heard anymore about the ME 262 of FHC last I heard close, but not quite there yet. I just finished a book called Higher Calling great read for those interested in seeing thru the eyes of a B-17 Pilot and a ME-109 pilot.
One last question what is the current status of the dual control ME-109 that Connie Edwards had that is proven to have been flown by Adolph Gallund during the filming of the Battle Of Britian Movie? Thanks to all in advance.

The dual-control Buchon you mention Ed was restored by Air Leasing in the UK and has been flying since November 2017, operated under "Ultimate Warbird Flights", registered as G-AWHC. They restored the original type canopy setup (which could be installed again), but it has instead been fitted with the stock Messerschmitt windscreen and tandem stock/framed canopies for reasons of safety (paying passengers) and it provides a more Messerschmitt Bf-109 experience for those flying in the aircraft. It has already been displayed at events in the UK last year. Just do a quick google image search for G-AWHC and numerous recent photos will pop up of how the aircraft looks as of this past year, restored and flying.

Air Leasing also has already completed the restoration of two other former Connie Edwards Buchons - G-AWHH and G-AWHM, of which numerous photos of those can be quickly found with a quick google search, which were completed in the first half of 2018. Currently, Air Leasing are restoring two more Buchons, G-AWHR and G-HISP (latter of which will reportedly be completed in Spanish AF colors), as well as a Bf-109G-2 WkNr.14798.

There are currently 11 Bf-109/Buchon type airframes flying today, but only three of those are not Buchons or aren't modified Buchons. Two are original Bf-109E's - the US-based Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum's Bf-109E WkNr.1342 N342FH and the UK-based privately owned Bf-109E WkNr.3579 G-CIPB in the care of the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar (both with significant histories). The third, which is significantly newly-built, is the German-based Hangar10 Bf-109G-6 WkNr.440738 D-FMGS: http://hangar10.de/en/our-world-of-exhi ... bf-109-g-6

Some of the Bf-109's currently being restored to fly that have original wartime histories/provenances:

- Bf-109E WkNr.1983, at Manching, Germany, fully completed back in 2017, set to fly this year.
- The MeierMotors Spanish Civil War vet early Bf-109E 6-88/C.4E-88 nearing the final stages of completion, slated to fly in 2020.
- Bf-109E WkNr.4034 at Rare Aero in England.
- Bruce Winter's Bf-109G-6 WkNr.410077 at Midwest Aero Restorations in Illinois.
- Graham Peacock's/Anglia Aircraft Restoration's Bf-109G-2 WkNr.14798 at Air Leasing in the UK.
- Kermit Weeks' Bf-109G-6 WkNr.161352 at Don Bradshaw's in Canada.
- Jerry Yagen's Bf-109E WkNr.2023 under restoration in "Eastern Europe" (haven't heard anything on this one for some years).

Good info John, out of curiosity do you know which flying/under restoration to fly 109 is the rarest variant? It might be the dual control...? I could research a little, but thought you might know off the top of your head.

And old list (said to be under update) shows that a Bf 109B-0 V10a W.Nr. 1010 is under restoration in Germany.

Probably the most unique will be the Condor Legion Bf-109E-1 6-88 found in Spain and under restoration to fly at MeierMotors.

Thanks for the post and photos! A 109B would be something, I’ll look more into the Condor 109’s, the schemes look pretty awesome 8)

Malcolm Laing has Bf-109G-2 13927, Yellow 6 being restored at Slaton, TX. Wonder what came of Bf-109F 10212, Bf-109F-4 10276 and Bf-109E 5975
which I believe were stored at one time by Michael Bertz in Colorado.

Al three are effectively new-builds, with a few original parts to give them identities/provenance

Apart from Black 6 (now in the RAF Museum) the only one currently under restoration that will use significant portions of original airframe is the Guy Black Emil that came out of India, all the rest are effectively brand-new aircraft or converted Buchons.
