OK, gang, continuing with the trip, today I barely made it to the Mid-America Air Museum, in Liberal, KS. Too many [never thought I would say this!] airplanes under one roof; it makes photography almost impossible, with too many dead angles and a mixture of civilian and military aircraft without any reason -at least to me- for doing so, other than occupying the available space.

Weather permitting, Breckenridge is next : )

All photos ©2006 Tulio R. Soto:

F-86H at the McCook, NE airport; was flight-delivered back in 1972, still keeps the engine; there is no serial number visible, but it belongs to the USAF Museum; some local individual of questionable judgement broke the canopy with a cinder block to gain access, so they patched it up with a piece of plexiglass:

Guess this one: Three of them saw service in VietNam.

No guess..that's a Pereira design originally tagged the Osprey I, which the
USN selected from 7 contenders for a potential single-seat seaplane
intended for civil police patrol duty in S.E. Asia. In service it was the
Pereira X-28A Sea Skimmer.

Behind the X-28 is an Umbaugh or Air and Space 18A autogyro...nice
3-view here..

Thanks for the great photos and virtual road trip Tulio!!!!

Are you planning on stopping at Denver? Good museum at Lowery. Also more museums at Pueblo airport and Colorado Springs (Peterson AFB and AF Academy. Did you stop at Hill AFB?

Guys, I am heading back home to TX, so no Colorado stops this trip.

Here's one of the Blue Bird (Former Honduran AF IIRC).

And YES! It is an Osprey (Pereira, mis-identified as a "Perzira" as seen at the museum's sign)

Saludos!
