I think the second one is the European-based recreation using original parts.

The first photo is of a static-build Bf-109G-2, using original parts and newly-manufactured parts, located in France. The guy that built that aircraft, Jacques Strübi, says he's been working on it since he was 10 and he's in his 60's now, still not quite yet finished with it.

The second is a Bf-109G-5 made up of original parts from as many as 5-6 different wrecked/recovered airframes, done by Jan van Huuksloot in the Netherlands. It's quite rough-looking, but really neat to know that it is entirely made up of original components. The main basis of the project began with WkNr.15343. The aircraft is painted with an RAF fin flash on the tail, as if it has been captured by the British for evaluation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiNKmXRn7yY

That's a real one now on display at the South African National Museum of Military History. A glass partition has been installed to keep it out of the weather.

Jan's aircraft has a lot of original parts, but the fuselage is unusual in that it is a jigsaw of original crash site recovered skin fragments fixed to a fuselage template which he built himself, IIRC he was an aircraft engineer at one time. I visited back in 1996 when he was well into fixing the pieces of skins on to it- remarkable he knew where they went!

OK, here are a couple from my visit back a decade a go. Look closely and you can see the bare metal template and the application of the original crash site recovered skins- remarkable work.
