I have posted the start of some C-45 pix to http://community.webshots.com/user/lorence357

This is in response to reading the Warbird registry pages about the C-45

I made a trip to Arizona/Nevada/California in 1974 'planespotting' including an early trip to davis Monthan & The as yet un-opened Pima museum.

I have always liked the C-45 and have more pix, including a visit to hamilton's at Tucson. At the time they were producing Westwind conversions and had a very large store of C-45 frames.

Hi There... would love to see the photos, especially of the C-45 mod-shop, but the link you provided doesn't seem to be working.

Cheers,
Richard

Here's one you can add:

Image

It was in some photos taken at Mazatlan, Mexico in 1974 I got last weekend at an estate sale. Several other wrecks (Cessnas and a Bonanza) were nearby; maybe a storm came through? FAA has no record of the N-number.

Lorence,

Great pictures, I've forwarded your link to my friend who now owns this one: http://community.webshots.com/photo/286 ... 4746cCRtHj which has been fully restored to it's original condition. He recovered it, just as you see it, in I believe the mid 1990's, and it received Most Authentic Warbird at Oshkosh in 2000.

As it is now:

Nice to know some of them made it back into the air!!!

Bob Parmereter of Beech 18 book fame also passed my pic of the Westwind II STD on to it's present owner!!

Re pic of N473E, Bob's book gives it's c/n as A-544 which should make it a D-18S.
Unfortunately his book, although massive and full of info, doesn't give a record card for every airframe!! (You would need to feed a complete tree into a papermill I reckon)

The remains of a C-45 lie in the woods just west of the engine test cell on the south side of the runway at Dobbins ARB / NAS Atlanta near Marietta, GA. They've been there for a long time. During the time I worked at NAS Atlanta (1989-2001) I couldn't find anyone who had any knowledge of the time period of the wreck. Pretty good sized trees are growing up thru the wreckage. Aircraft had similar paint scheme to the one in the photo above.
