Scott's recent thread asking for C-119 pictures got me thinking. Are there any C-119's still flying? The last one I was aware of being operational was in Palmer, Alaska about 10-15 years ago. Even then they were just taxing it without flying it.

The only possiable flyer would by the Flight of the Phoenix C-119, it was in very good shape when I flew it, but it has not flown in a numbers of years and is looking sad last time I saw it.

They flew one into Hagerstown just a few years ago. But I don't think it's flown since, and I don't know if the Museum has any intention of ever flying it again. Although, obviously, they COULD if they really wanted to.

How about a restoration of former USN 131695 by John Reffett in Palmer, AK? Was in Air Classics mag 2014.

There were 2 at Palmer, one is sidelined to a grass spot and the other one seems to have its engines run in recent time.
But Reffett's project there has run out of steam many years ago, going nowhere.
That can be said for all C-119s, some preserved but not a hope in hell to fly again.

She was looking a little sad when I got a good look at her this past September. My wife's parents live on the opposite side of I-5 from where it sits today...

According to the new issue of Air Classics, N8501 is being readied for flight again in Alaska in 2020. Cool!
