The following lists are of aircraft that were offered through the DOD Surplus Catelog venue. These military aircraft remains are essentually broken up scrap - not being offered as a possible flyer. I thought maybe those WIX members that are looking for a souvenir or are parts collectors may find the lists useable. For full explanation of subject, please refer to same title above, except use - 1970.

Any thoughts on how to track down original ad? Sale information and who got the junk ultimately? THanks.

benguttery - Apparently the winning bidders list was not obtained for this sale. If I had it, I would have added the winning bidder to the information line. There had to be a large amount of scrap yards in the area of APG, which might be a place to start, but hardly feasible some 25 years after the sale. I would doubt that the office that handled the sale and sent photos still exists. Maybe a helicopter regeneration outfit would be a starting point - I think there is one in Florida that sells overhauled helicopters internationally...Wish I could tell you more. I no longer have the DOD sales catalog which would provide any further info anyways... :(

Did the original ads include photos of the parts? I am specifically interested in the F-16 from Griffiss AFB in 1995.

Would be glad to explain, if you are interested or check out YF-16 #2 Restoration on facebook.

Thanks again for posting these, they've been very interesting to read.

The sales catalog did not have any photos of the F-16. The description of the item follows: Item 49 - Wrecked Aircraft, Scrap. Consisting of mutilated residue from F16, with ferrous, non-ferrous and other foreign material. Mutilated beyond demilitarization requirements....Loose on ground 13,260 pounds. The following articles apply: Part 05-I Military Munitions List Items (MLI), Part 05-J Strategic List Items (SLI), Part 05-K Munitions List and Strategic List Item (MLI/SLI) Compliance. End Use Certificate Applies and must be completed and submitted with bids on this item....The catalogs usually don't have photos of items broken up. No indication of serial/BuNo numbers in these cases...Wish news was better....Leon
