Did anyone see on Pawn Stars the other night a customer brought in a Norden Bombsight and got 1,000 buks for it. I thought the scarcity of this item would have made it much more valuable.

That show is fake as the day is long.
Anyone ever see the one with the Gatling gun, or the Hotchkis 2-pounder field gun? Both so very fake. This pieces were never gonna sell and the producers went looking for stuff like that.
I know two people who walked in there trying to get onto the show with neat stuff, and both were told to come back at a specific day and time and act like they'd never been there before.
Same with American Pickers. They went to the guy I bought my 1944 Willys Jeep from a couple of years ago and the producers there basically told him everything he was going to do and say. They wanted him to be the gruff old, "get off my lawn" type but the guy is a happy-go-lucky type who smiles all the time. The staff wasn't happy that he couldn't be who they were looking for so his segment never aired (though they badly edited the segment they did film down the road, as they showed a quick scene of those two guys standing in front of one of his Jeeps by accident)

Norden Bombsights aren't really all that rare, they are desirable due to their famous history

I didn't see the show, don't watch TV, but 1K seems like an okay price for a bombsight,

It's the accessories that are expensive, like mounts and head adapters etc. Those stayed on the plane while the sights were removed

The shop that you see is a tiny portion of the place. They have a big section devoted to swag for the show, and a lot of the place is a normal pawn shop (with used DVDs, chain saws and such)

I thought it was filmed on a sound stage!
