Interesting old documentary on the Avro CF-100

A cheesy story wrapped around a test pilot but still interesting hindsight and footage. But hey! It was filmed 63 years ago!!!!!

I always loved the CF-100 lines as a straight wing early jet. It has the same appeal to me like the F-89 Scorpion.

Enjoy!

BTW....the NFB The Canadian National Film Board have some gems. They were the original producers of the Defender and yes you can view it for free on the site.

I know...it's a Canadian thing!

Some very good footage on a rare bird.

Look at the gun test firing starting around 5m

Last flight. The dedication and last flight was done at St-Hubert close to where I live. The one on the pole was still there up until a few years ago

And a very interesting end of life as a test bed!

Very interesting, thanks for posting those up.

Here in the UK we can only dream of what might have been had Ormond Haydon-Baillie been allowed to keep his CF-100 airworthy following its flight from Cranfield to Duxford back in the 1970’s. Sadly it wasn’t to be!
