Scott.....just wanted to say!

Thank you for keeping the WIX archive up!!!!

http://archive.warbirdinformationexchange.org/archives/index1.html

Most of the links or pics are dead....but still. This is what got me in the ''vibe'' over 20 years ago. And still a BOATLOAD of great content.

Just having fun going through it.

For those curious, have a look...
- Loads of great contributors that may still be around
- Cool blast of topics from all over the place
- 20 years + of passion and contributions!

So how many still around!!!! Let's do a count.

Cheers.

My first post almost 20 years ago when the internet ''thingy'' was just a baby. The Blayd Zero's are still alive :-) : http://archive.warbirdinformationexchange.org/archives/post36.html

And..... http://archive.warbirdinformationexchange.org/archives/post29555.html

What you guys just said.

I joined WIX 17 years ago, yesterday.

A big GRACIAS to Scott, for his indefatigable labor.

Saludos,

Tulio

I joined on 30 April 2004, some 17 years ago but that was on this platform, right? There was a preceeding version of the WIX which was started in the last millennium or early in this millennium but Scott can tell us.

On the first version, I was Scotts eyes in the east. When the data base grew too large, it got corrupted and the forum got messed up. When I noticed that (still night in the west) I dropped Scott a mail to notify him a.s.a.p. I don't recall his actions but I believe it is still archived :? somewhere.

Nowadays, I'm not contributing much :( but I'm still around :D !

Thanks Scott for your time and efforts :drink3: !

Was that Warbirds Worldwide? I participated in Paul Coggan's website (same-same, I don't remember the site's name, but it was around the end of last century)

I remember you, Christer, and so many others who have left us, either on their own will, or because life took them away from us.

Saludos!

Warbirds Worldwide was a different forum. I guess it was there until the demise of that publication or series of publications due to Pauls untimely death. I still have all the "editions" and a few of the "specials"!

I remember you too, Tulio, from the "good old days" and I hope that life treats you well!

Well, I don't agree with the WWW-forum being the one I remember. There was someting ran by Scott prior to the current version and I have found the archive. It was in the beginning of this millennium:

Archives from first generation of WIX from 2001-2004

Interesting to note that you were the one introducing the new forum in the last post of the old forum and that the link still works!

I'm glad that you're still around too, Brian!

I have learned so much, from many knowlegeable people here.

I have had the pleasure of meeting a few through the years.

Started off as the Warbirds Worldwide forum and Scott continued it as the WW Refugee forum once the former folded.

Yeah, something like that - a good 25 years Scott has been carrying the torch- well done that man

Thanks everyone for the nice comments... and the patience.

A little over 25 years ago I started what would become the Warbirds Resource Group (originally started as the Luftwaffe Resource Group) and after a few years I went to A Gathering Of Mustangs and Legends in Kissimmee, FL. There I took a bunch of pictures and upon returning home I discovered one of my pictures online (i don't remember how it came up), which was odd since I hadn't posted any yet. Then I realized that it wasn't my pictures as the angle was slightly off. I had been standing within feet of the photographer who took the image. I realized that I wasn't the only nutter out there and I went looking for forums and the first one was the Warbirds Worldwide forum. I had found a home! Then within a week or so it was down... then up.... then gone. It was resurrected for a week under a different name and that went down too. All for legal reasons I'm told. So I created the refugee center to try and hold the community together and that eventually became WIX (better believe I wish I registered the WIX domain name back then)

Anywho, WIX is coming up on it's 20th Anniversary and it's all because of you guys and your support. There's been highs and lows but we're still here, and will be for a long time to come!

:drink3:
