My Spelling Problem

Rob,
Spelling isn't the issue, you approach is. Take one step back and ask yourself why do so many people feel this way. Having a disorder sure isn't a factor. I have Attention Deficit Disorder which drives my wife nuts has I try to watch 20 TV programs or read a dozen books at the same time. But I managed 2 college degrees and flew has a crewman in the Navy (I forgot to tell them when I joined-oops!) among other things.

Col, Not sure as to what your referring to in the approach to the Navy, but, if you do need help creating some sort of document, please let me help you, if you may.

I could help in anyway shape or form. I have not written too many books, but I have a technical writing skill and have written many software designs that CEO's of major corporations have read.

So, in saying that, anything that I can do to help you out, or rather, the entire warbird community, I am willing to lend a hand and an eye.

robb you don't owe anybody an explanation for your problem. we are all human, & we all have chinks in our armor. mine??? i can't hardly do any math with out a calculator or adding machine, & i own 2 stores!!! :oops:

1 more thing robb...... you may not win the national spelling bee..... but i can safely bet that you have the respect of the vast majority of the members of this site regarding your warbird knowledge, & you can start with me at the top of the list.

Look I don't give an Fing toss but Rob mate just get the habit if typing the bloody messages out in word and running spell check then cut and paste - at least you make that bit go away - not hard - As for the Navy ?

Well I do think a well credentialed lobby group would be the way to go and one with some funding from Allen, Weeks, Yeagan etc wouldn't hurt - one small guy is just like *issing in the wind regardless of qualifications. Have no idea about EAA etc

Hey man dont worry about it. I get D's in language because I cant spell for my life. Same with math: Im in Geometry and can memorize complicated equations and do them with ease, but if you were to ask me to recite my addition tabels I would turn around and walk out of the room. I even know a guy who has a masters in physics (something like that) and is like me cant spell or do simple math.
If you want we could all spell really bad and you could use spell check. :wink:

From my perspective, you don't have a reason to apologize. I think that you deserve an attaboy for even going to find out what is the issue in your spelling. All that aside, you do have value on this board.

I have to agree with Jack a bit here. Sometimes you just come across as caustic. Not that you have to even read or pay attention to what any of us say to you, but perhaps, and it worked for me, one solution is to reread what you have written prior to posting it. I think that is the hardest part, because I have found that I read it exactly as it was written in my head, not as I wrote it on paper, or in this case, on the computer screen. Maybe, like John wrote, you start using word and then do a spell check. Then by the time you paste it, reread it, then perhaps you will find some things you want to change.

I am not going to argue anything about your knowledge or your contacts. I know for a fact that several times you have made points that forced me to either research some things or made me think about the point your were trying to make. Most importantly, people who are bound and determined to make this board and the warbird movement better by extending their own resources must not be cut off at the knees.

I have a lot more to learn about warbirds. I think myself semi-fluent in the warbird world, and am actually a lot ahead of a lot of people who claim to know a lot more than they do. I get a lot of emails from people I work with in the airline world asking for direction or for specifics about an airplane or a type. This forum, and the people who participate make my answers easier at times. I also get to keep my own records which started before I ever found this site, up to date.

As far as the Navy or UNESCO or any other sticky subject, I have so limited a knowledge, that I just read, and try to learn. If you have an in, and can make the warbird movement prosper because of your contacts, then by all means make it happen. You have already recieved one volunteer for help if it comes to making a formal written statement.

Personally, I am just waiting for the (Un)Authorized(?) book about early warbird collectors, and the airplanes that have been through Tallichet collection over the years. I want to know when you get close on that so that I can pre order my book.

I never heard this from Rob, but I did hear it from a well known wealthy collector in Florida about 20 years ago. Maybe he heard it from Rob? :lol:

A trick that i have heard, but ofcorse never use, is to read what you wrote back words starting with the last word and going to the frist. Something about it dosnt make sense in your brain and therefore you just read the word making it easier to notice speeling mistakes. Or just use word. :wink:
