Very cool! Although the white spinner and the red rudder make it look a little funky!

It's about time they put the 6 rows of white victory bars on the red rudder to complete the markings......

Been waiting to see this take to the air for a while now, well down to all those at RAC.... 8)

Sweet, love that red tail, Congrats to all involved.
I see they used a Merlin engine, are there any 109's using there original type engine?

The merlin engine is type-specific. This is a spanish-built variant of the 109, called a Buchon, and the later versions used the Merlin. Yes, there are a couple of '109 variants flying with DB's in them, although, with the exception of Ed Russell's Bf-109E, I think they are all re-engined Buchons.

Hope this helps.

Cheers. Richard

Are there any Buchons flying with the 1st DB substitute... the Hispano Suisa?

That's the HA-1109-K1L. No.

The HA-1109-K1L isn't a Buchon either, as 'Buchon' (a kind of deep chested pigeon) was the name given to the deep-chinned Merlin engined Hispano HA-1112-M1L.

There's at least one survivor of the Hispano-Suiza engined version at the Spanish Air Force museum, next to a Buchon, and Connie Wilson has the only two-seat Buchon in store, which was originally built with a H-S engine before being re-engined with a Merlin. (That was, for the pedants, a HA-1110-K1L, then becoming a HA-1112-M4L.)

Ahh..thanks Raven!

Edit;It was late and couldn't remember the correct handle for the H-S bird.
I didn't even catch your mistakenly referring to Connie Edwards as Wilson...
