[*]I was just reading in an online article about efforts being made to eliminate the word "Gay" from the Enola Gay noseart because of DEI! Has anyone else heard this? Its sounds totally stupid!

Its not being removed from the actual aircraft (even if that were true, its owned by the smithsonian and not the gvt). There was a directive to remove DEI references from gvt websites and socials by a certain date. If they were unable to comply by the timeline, they were to use a catch-all net to remove anything containing certain keywords, then gontheough manually, sort, and put back online anything that was caught by mistake. In the end, this should not effect anything to do with the aircraft as it has nothing to do with DEI.

Time will tell tho, its hard to predict were things land these days.

Creating a problem where none existed. Years ago we used to supposedly employ prisoners to dig holes just so that another batch could fill them in again. This is that.

It's the recognized, documented name of a historic artifact.

I figure if you wanted my opinion on items unrelated to this forum, you'd ask for it.

The word "gay" was flagged by AI algorithms for obvious reasons, I'm sure by now it has been reviewed by a human since this has been widely reported at least a week ago, and any censor removed.

Am guessing leftists are trying to make the most out of it to [try to] make removing perverse/controversial/woke references from govt websites look ridiculous and fruitless.

Or conversely, any normal person is throwing their hands up at the sheer stupidity of it in the first place.

Can we maybe get back to the subject and desist from the childishness? I'd hope we could all be objective and see this as nonsense. How that can be turned into some kind of agenda I don't know, but it seems to be a necessity these days. How I long for the days when we could discuss things in an adult manner.
