Ditched with fuel exhaustion sixty-nine miles southwest of Hickam Field, Honolulu 16Aug47 (5MIS:5KIS:3INJ).

I have the crew/passenger names on this accident. I did some newspaper research on this plane when I found and bought a photo of it from eBay:
Pilot-Kenneth R. Still, cp-Cecil M. Sigmon, cp-Virgil E. Carley, Randolph B. Boyer, Carl A. Russell, David Larr, Ira C. Harrison, Otto F. McKee, Lawrence J. Vonesh, Ambassador to Japan George Atcheson, Jr. (10 KIS), n-Thomas L. Ryder, Harvey P. Huglin, Travis J. Holland (3 RTS)
Unfortunately the photo was lost in transit somewhere around Houston (USPS initiated a search but no luck yet) and the seller promised me he'd email a scan without the watermark, but he's been dragging his feet for over a month. This is from the eBay listing, with the seller's watermark:

I had a similar experience (probably a different seller); rare image lost in transit - it never turned up - so I asked the seller for a full-size scan without the watermark. The reply? "we don't provide scans of our images"! Yet they obviously scanned it for eBay, so why the issue? OK I got my money back but sadly that rare image is now apparently lost forever.
