I was curious if anyone here has any knowledge of or disposition of the T-28 Kiwi bailout trainer used at NAS Whiting Field during the T-28 era.
It was basically a damaged T-28B with the outer wing panels removed and anchored to the ground. It was painted yellow and the trainee ran it up to full power and the demonstrated the proper bailout technique (I mean the full deal, blow the canopy exit the a/c and bail into a big net). I saw it in operation a number of times and looked like fun but they never let me do it (I was 12 or 13 at the time) even though I asked everybody about a million times! I have my step-dad's card showing a successful jump in Sept 1976. They probably trashed it with the coming of the T-34Cs in 1977 but who knows.
