Here is kind of a before and after shot comparing the front cockpit throttle quadrant (on the left) and the rear cockpit throttle quadrant after restoration. I still need to install the switch and wiring but you get the basic idea of what I am doing here. These were in good mechanical condition as installed on the plane but were a little hard on the eyes.

Looks good!

On the restored quadrant, did you polish the grip
or is that a new one?

I've been thinking about modifying my throttle levers
to use the Mustang-style knurled grip instead of the
larg(er) ball on the end (I think the latter was original).

Hello Bela,

Those are Harvard grips on Brandons quadrants.

I stripped the black paint off (one painted and one bare for some reason), recut some of the knurling that was smashed with a sharp file, sanded out all the scratches, and polished. I started with the worst one first!

The Harvard quadrants have the mixture control markings backwards (idle cutoff forward) so I filled those letters with Bondo prior to paint.

Great work, they’ll look even better in the airplane!

How did you paint the lettering? Or did you use a compound similar to what is used on engraved industrial switch panels?

The white is a lacquer stick. The increase/decrease placard was just cleaned up and sprayed with clear to protect it.

I think they're cool. Might have to make me a set on my
buddy's lathe.

I knew something like that was around, but didn’t know the correct term. Thanks!
