Kirtland had an open house and air show today.

Work made it impossible for me to attend the show, but was able later in the afternoon, to make it to the flight line near the Cutter / 7-Bar FBO area, and shot some Thunderbird action.

Since everyone here has seen the "Aves del Trueno" at least once, I will not post photos.

What I missed seeing, was the demo by the V-22 Osprey.....

Saludos,

Tulio

I have seen a few pictures of the Kirkland show...they showed an F-4, P-51, F-15 Heritage Flight...Question is...what F-4 was doing the flying?

USAF or Collings Foundation...I'm getting mixed reports from non aviation people...

Good to hear the USAF trotted out their CV-22...

PS.
I live in Bell Helicopter's back yard and I haven't seen a V-22 in 4 years! And they have never flown one at a local airshow...so much for letting the people that build them see it in action ...

Ah yes...beautiful Kirtland AFB. I spent 3 1/2 years there '56-'59. That was when you could go 6 blocks north or south from Central Ave. and be out in the desert.

Mudge the geezer

The V-22 cancelled for the MAPS show. I would loved to have seen them fly that thing!

Great Photo's Areo51. :)

I like this one (well beside the AT-6) What is it, please? It looks like a North American or Ryan..? Perhaps a Beaver? Too small for a Norseman... hm...

Forgive, I'm a neophyte compared to you guys.

There once was one at the Air Zoo. I don't know if it is still there.

I have seen several DGA-15's, but very few in military guise. The only paint scheme I have seen is like the picture Navy instrument trainer, maybe the same airplane each time. Mark Clark has one for sale. They have really skyrocketed in price the last few years. Will run with a Staggerwing, five people in comfort and carry a boat load of fuel.
I got to fly one couple of years ago 25 hrs out of a world class restoration, and although it looks kinda dumpy like all of Benny Howards' planes it hauls ass.

It didn't happen to be a white and blue-trimmed one did it, Obergrafter?

No, it was an all yellow one out of Oklahoma. The head of the FAA DER program was in town to give a seminar needed a hangar. I told him to use mine but just bring a lot of towels. He said it was a tight engine and did not leak oil, and I told him not for the oil but to wipe all the drool off of it the next morning. Absolutely the most gorgeous airplane restoration I have ever seen.
