Does anyone know how many DC-3's are flying in the US today?

I know Courtesy Aircraft has two DC-3s for sale.

If the WIX warbird project were to come about, I think a DC-3/C-47 would be the perfect aircraft to purchase.

Interesting Question,

I was recently pondering that one myself. I was curious about just how many DC-3's were remaining after watching the "Band of Brothers" video's. It made me sit up and and say ........Hmmmmmmmmmm??

Not that they're all flyable, but the FAA website has over 600 DC-3's and C-47's registered.

I think that an L-19 would be more affordable... Maintaining a C-47/DC-3 takes a lot of time, money, and expertise- not to mention the piloting requirements and insurance for an aircraft that carries that many people.
