Product protects museums' aircraft tires

What's new: Diane Stacey owns Sun Solutions Products, which distributes products that protect and preserve tires, dashboards and awnings from sun damage. Stacey is working with March Air Museum in Moreno Valley and USA Yanks Air Museum in Chino to help preserve tires on vintage aircraft.
What it is: Stacey sells four products -- protective solutions for tires, dashboards and awnings, plus a cleaner. The products protect against dry rot and premature cracking caused by ultraviolet rays. The products were originally developed for the recreational vehicle, aircraft and marine markets, where tires are often used just a few days or weeks out of the year, Stacey said. The tire product, applied once a year, has been approved for use by the U.S. Air Force.
When it opened: October 2005
Who owns it: Stacey is the manager/owner of her own small business that sells and distributes the product, manufactured by Pro Tec Products Inc., based in Fenton, Mich. She operates the business out of her Menifee home office.
What's next: Stacey hopes to tap into a wide target market made up of "anyone who has tires," she said. The market includes owners of RVs, marine trailers, golf carts, cars or trucks, aircraft, construction and farm equipment and all-terrain vehicles. One goal is to sell the products to RV and other vehicle dealers, who would offer it to customers having their vehicles serviced.
