Hi all,

Here is a link to some photos that I shot at the 2006 Cowtown Warbird Roundup at Meacham Airport in Fort Worth, Texas, on August 12. The event was hosted by the Vintage Flying Museum, the OV-10 Bronco Association, and the Forward Air Controllers Museum. Enjoy!

The pics ain't the best quality because I was shooting with my little Canon PowerShot G-1 instead of my Digital Rebel 300D, plus the lighting was poor. :?

This is my first time using Photobucket.com, and I hope it works right!

Dean,

Looks good to me.

WOW! I am quite surprised by the modern military stuff that showed up!

Never expected to see A-10, F-18 and F-15 on that ramp.

The Mohawk was a nice score!

Looks like a good fly-in.

Congrats
Z

Hey Z,

Glad the pictures work! The modern military turnout was impressive, but we didn't get everyone that we invited. Here's what I can recall seeing:

MC-130J Herc (USMC)
F-15E Eagle from Missouri ANG
F/A-18A Hornet (x2) both USMC
T-2 Buckeye (x2)
T-37 Tweet
T-45A Hawk (USMC)
T-6A Texan II (x3) two USN, one USAF
A-10A Warthog (x2)
CH-47 Chinook
CH-46 Skynight
AH-1 Cobra (x2)
HH-65 Dolphin (USCG)
C-12 Huron
Two King Air-type trainers (can't recall the designators!)

Yes, the Mohawk was very impressive. It is owned by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at Addison Airport, as is the Bell 47J, which is also a really high quality restoration. Both a/c are stunning! The T-28D was also in superb shape.

Cheers,
Dean

Good pic's. Just to keep your files accurate, the Bell is a H13.

Or if you prefer, a Bell 47G...I think it's a G3B....with a supercharger, longer tailboom and deeper fuel tanks.
The military designation would have been OH-13S.

That's what I love about this site... you could call it a bell 47g, but the data plate calls it a TH-13T, but what do they know. It's civilian equivalent with a few changes is Bell 47G3B1.

If the trainer King Airs had Navy paint schemes, orange and white, then they were most likely T-44's from NAS Corpus Christi, VT-31.

Chill dude, no need to get rude. I gave a civilian designation because the original poster gave a civil designation.

I considered calling it a "T" , but the "T"s were 2-seat instrument trainers...so with a full bench seat, a regular panel (my H-13 TM... shows "T" panels to be larger than the straight "G" I flew) and the absence of antennas, led me to call it an "S". ...Which it effectively is without the IFR avionics,. Also since the paint is all wrong for a "T" I figured it was a civil ship in Army paint. Feel better? :D

BTW: The 47"J" has a completely different airframe...an enclosed tail boom 4-seater.
