I just got back fro the Connecticut Premiere of "Flyboys".
The Warner Theater in Torrington is a hugh, beautifully restored, 1931 Movie palace. Old cars parked out front and Cole Palen's old Fokker Triplane dramatically lit on stage! Tony Bill, the director, came out and spoke before the film and answered questions after the showing.

It was a really fun evening and the film was good. It wasn't great, as the middle dragged a bit and the dogfights started to blend together as one.
Lots of digital images and the director even siad he'd like to put a bunch of money down to see if anyone can pick out the digital scenes from the real.
I wanted to take him up on that, but my wife told me to forget it!
Out of ten, I'd give it about a six. I think my grandkids will love, though!

Bill did speak of Ray Hanna and of his untimely passing just after the filming.
It's worth going to see, but I don't think it'll be an aviation film classic.
Blue skies,
Jerry
