Im not sure if anyone else has seen this footage. I dont know where the different locations are..But It looks like Texas Raiders is in it! I thought that the first part of the clip was maybe TOM '05, we were all doing left turns coming over show center and the video shows them coming around from the right.
But none the less...some good footage.

It is "Texas Raiders". The video is from the early 1990's at Geneseo, NY. Notice "Fuddy Duddy" with no top turret, green cowling (in honor of Bob Richardson) and dropping watermelons.
I was there. It was fun!

Elroy that is Texas Raider, 909, Tallichet's Memphis Belle, Sentimental Journey, & Fuddy Duddy filmed at Geneseo. A long time ago.

The B-17 with the checkered cowling is Sally B looks like at Duxford.

The first clip is from Geneseo Wings of Eagles 1991 (when the National Warplane Museum was actually something).

Look more closely - You missed the Collings B24 (as All American then) and the CWH Lanc at the back of the arrowhead formation just as the first clip ends.

At the time, you saw about 1/2 the world's flying population of each type (B17, B24 & Lanc) in that one formation. Not bad for a cornfield in upstate NY.

That was a very good video. I liked the HE-177 video too.

I think that was the last great collection of Bombers at Geneseo. That was a GREAT show! I have some pictures of it on my Webshots page, not great shots but they are there.

A note about the Collings B-24, it made passes with the Ball turret down which seems unquie from what I have been told. Can anyone say why the Collings Foundation no longer fly for airshows (other than TOM last year)?

Tim

John, didn't miss them just didn't mention them. Elroy asked about B-17s.

Tim, flying airshows actually costs the Foundation revenue and fewer people get to experience flight as most airshows won't allow the flights to happen. The other reason is that since the bombers are on their own tour schedule its difficult to mesh with the airshow schedules.

Thanks for the replies! I figured out all of the 17's.. but in the video you cant really see the nose art on Raiders...But looking at the tail markings you can tell its her.

Trae ~ thanks for pointing this our way !

Lets hope its not that long before we can shoot some new footage of "TR" back in the air !

Somehow ~ they have snuck B-17 ~ Sally-B in there ! The yellow and black checker engine cowling is a easy reference point. The background is certainly Duxford ~ shot during a Flying Legends airshow ~ hence all the "spam" cans in the background

I can remember drooling over pictures from this Geneseo show in magazines and wondering how we Brits would ever find out in advance about air shows like this ... the web has transformed some of our lives !

I used to be information poor ~ now I'm information rich ..... and cash poor ! And I wouldn't have it any other way ! :D

I basically grew up watching Raiders! The Harlingen CAF airshows back in the day (The good Ol days) when Raiders would come in during the TORA attack and drop one gear down and keep the other up...screaming down the runway!! AHHH! Those days were great!

I pass by Raiders all the time and I cant wait to see her in the air again!!
