...from NASM e-newsletter today...

"F-14 Ceremony at Udvar-Hazy

Aviation enthusiasts, and particularly Navy flyers, will want to be at the Udvar-Hazy Center on Saturday, 30 September. The F-14 Tomcat is being retired from the Navy after many years of exceptional service to the United States. The Tomcat owned by the National Air and Space Museum is now on display in the north end of the Boeing Aviation Hanger at the Udvar-Hazy Center and it will be admired by visitors far into the future.

The all-day event on 30 September, with a special ceremony at 1 PM, will salute the aircraft. The event will include US Navy representatives talking about the aircraft’s history and answering questions. Free giveaways will be available, and there will be a free showing of Top Gun in the IMAX® Theater at 7 PM (note that tickets are required). We want to thank Northrop Grumman for generously supporting this event.

Free parking too!

I wasnt even aware that the NASM had an F-14 in their collection until I received the same e-newsletter. This particular F-14, Bu 159610 has a kill to its credit. On 1/4/89 the pilot of this F-14 shot down a Mig 23 off the coast of Lybia.
