Need your help ,
I live in Plainview , TX and have wanted to go up in a Stearman biplane for as long as I have known what stearman biplanes were. Can anyone in the group suggest where I should begin ? I know of no stearmans in this immediate area , I hope to oneday be able to attend the annual stearman biplane fly-in that's held close to Aurora , Il . This has always been one of my dreams in life to accomplish , I'm not old by any means , will be 55 next month , but feel like the time to try to accomplish this goal is now . I would really appreciate any feedback that anyone might have on this subject . Mr. Mike R Henniger an outstanding professional photographer recommended that I join this forum and submit my question . Thanks Mike ! Thank you WIE for allowing me to join this group and post my question . Best Regards ,
Kenny Hewitt[/b]

If you're ever in Alberta, Canada look me up. I'd be happy to take you for a ride.

Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Dallas offers flights in the Stearman.

The offer free rides when you join the Historic Aviation Restoration Museum at Creve Coeur.

Cost is $75, I think.

Stearman Fly-In is held at Galesburg, IL.

Kenny, no guarantee, but I bet if you come Midland next weekend, 6-8 to the CAF show you could buy a ride, and enjoy the weekend. The earlier the better. Also a good chance a W. Houston CAF or Lone Star museum in Galveston. If not already a CAF and EAA member you could join also. Good luck.

Make a road trip up to the Indiana Aviation Museum in Valparaiso, IN and take a ride in their PT-17 Stearman. Rides are $175 for a 30 minute experience. Or even take a ride in any of the warbirds at the museum. Rides range in price from $100 to $1,000 (L-2 to A-37).

A Stearman is somewhat responsible for my affinity with biplanes and aerobatics. I was 15 when I got to experience inverted flight for the 1st time, ala in a Stearman. The primacy of that flight started it, then my 1st ride in a Pitts knocked it into overdrive.

Steraman17, I hope you get your ride real soon!

The first time I got to experience inverted flight it was in a Champ and it was an accident!
