No doubt about a Woodrow Wilson there. He, obviously, hasn't got enough skin left over to close his mouth.
Be that as it may, that "smile" may be closer to clenched teeth with those 6 .50 cals. lit up.

Mudge the observant

Very nice!

Reminds me of the scene in the movie "1941" when silly General Stillwell tells P-40 pilot John Belushi "Let me hear your guns!". John obliged him. :P

Actually that was Col Maddox played by Warren Oakes. Stillwell was one of the few same characters in the film (except for a grown man watching Dumbo and singing along!!)

Outstanding shot...

I've been looking for a print of this photo, but no luck as yet. Any chance of obtaining a larger scan of this Jack? Also, may I use this on the P-40 site? I was going to use a scanned image from an old Fly Leaf, but it would look like garbage compared to a scan of an original.

What model P-40 is that? Looks like it has Merlin exhaust stubs to me...

The exhaust certainly doesn't look like what we're used to seeing on the P-40, but the scoop on top says Allison. Early E maybe? I don't recall when they went to the flatter exhaust stubs.

This is a Kittyhawk IA, originally destined for the RAF but diverted to the USAAC and redesignated as a P-40E-1.

The round exhausts were standard for early P-40Es but were often times replaced with fishtails.
