I was just wondering if anyone knows who's P-40 was used in the 1967 film "tobruk"?

By the way, the same footage was reused, along with most of the action sequences, in 1971's "Raid on Rommel" starring Richard Burton. The P-40,
by the way, was in British markings.

Didn't George Peppard also play in it? He was famous in the A-Team.

Yes,
George Peppard was in it and it starred Rock Hudson. The re-cut "Raid on Rommel" wasn't as good a film, but if you liked the action in "Tobruk" you'll like the action in "Rommel" because it's the same!!!

I believe much of it was shot in California, because the CA National Guard is thanked at the end of the film.

"I love it when a plan comes together!" :prayer:

Ironically I was watching the A-Team today. Can't get enough of it I guess... George Peppard has always been a hero of mine. Did he ever serve in WWII I wonder??

He was born in 1928, but I don't know if he served in WWII. He was, however, an Artillery Sargent in the Marine Corps. My favorite George Peppard show was "Banacek" in the early 1970's. It was one of the Wednesday Night Mystery Movies that rotated with "McCloud", "Columbo", and "MacMillian and Wife".

As for the question of the P-40. Are you talking about the one that is seen outside the window of the C-47? Was it ever true that RAF P-40's were used to escort cargo planes??

The P-40 I'm refering to attacks our hero's convoy and then gets shot down and crashes behind the ever convenient hill.
