Rumours are circulating that the Canadair Yukon that is/was residing in Ecuador was scrapped about two months ago. Rather quick as only recently the RCAF Memorial Museum at CFB Trenton was trying to transport her back to Canada...
I don't recall having seen any reports on the "cut-up".

Can anyone confirm this Yukon's (present) fate? Has anything about this recently appeared in the Canadian media?

There is nothing I heard on the radio or TV yet, but a Yahoo group is reporting this. It is no surprise. The Trenton museum gave up trying to get it months ago since the cost of transportation was prohibitive.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

I just read this on another list...

Quote:
I was with Chris Colton (Executive Director of the R.C.A.F. Memorial Museum) at the C.A.P.A. conference in Greenwood and he tells me that the Yukon will sit there until the museum comes up with the money to bring it to Trenton. It will cost over 350 thousands bucks to disassemble it and bring to Montreal by boat.

May not yet be scrapped!!!

Thanks so far Mike!
Anyone know when this conference at Greenwood was held this year?
If it was very recently then hopes are indeed very high!
