I was pleased to read on the site that ten percent of the Mustangs ever constructed are still flying, and most of them are expected at the Gathering.

Nearly 1,600 Mustangs in the air together should make quite a sight (and sound!) :D

Didn't know Rickenbacker made ace in WWII also. Need a proof reader?

A proof reader and a researcher. 1600 Mustangs still flying? Wishful thinking...truly wishful thinking! Just the same, I'll be there!

Chalk it up to the PR people!
1600 sounds a lot better in print!

The last FAA list I have for the USA shows 203 P-51s, I don't think there's 1400 in the rest of the world. Maybe they meant .10%

It will be interesting to see what other aircraft are there as well... :D

"In addition to celebrating the history of the P-51 Mustang and Legends, we will also feature a World-Class Air Show celebrating Air Force Heritage past and present. WWII fighters that flew with and against such as the P-40, P-63, P-47, P-38, ME-109, FW-190, Spitfire, is expected to be in attendance along with some of the country's top Air Show Performers at this incredible aviation celebration!"

Too bad there couldn't be an F-82 there as well! :?

Hmmmmm,

I think I may just have to pencil this one into my calander for this coming year's vacation time. If this comes about as advertised...this will be a once in a lifetime event.
