OK, a question for the masses.
Where do you go to get obsoleted
military specs, such as AN-QQ-S-756,
for example?

Sorry Bill, I don’t have an IHS account but I do have a 1960 VanDusen catalog of old AN, MS, NAS specs. If you or anyone else needs some info for hardware just let me know.

AN-QQ-S-756 Steel; Chrome-Nickel Molybdenum (4340): Bar and Rod

I cannot find a copy of the spec itself though. I guess you are too close to the cutting edge of technology for the data to catch up! AISI 4340 steel should get you what you need though.

I couldn't find this directly though, I had to do a word search that found a 1950 propeller hub specification that called out this material.

The question that I was trying to solve with that spec
was whether the plate material was rolled or forged.
