Warbird Information Exchange

Is there a group known as the "New England Escadrille" in Massachusetts? The may be located at Fitchburg. Apparently this is a non-profit group that operates a C-47, or once did. I can't find an official website or anything that indicates they are still around. Has anyone here heard of them?

They are still around, but they sold the C-47 years ago and then those owners eventually sold it again. It was known as "Plunkett's Passion". I'm not sure where it is now and the Escidrille is not as large as it once was, but I'm pretty sure they're still around.
They were involved in the Fall shows at Fitchburg, but that show didn't happen this year.
Someone else may have more info.
The shows they put on in the late 1980's at Manchester, NH were great and I really miss them!

I almost fell out of my chair seeing that thing!
This is a warbird site, not some shocking picture atrocity!

I'm not so sure of the status of the Escadrille, I see the former leading members from time to time and theres not a really organized membership anymore from what I gathered. One owns a Warbird art gallery in Needham, MA. Others are still doing different things out and about like flying for various groups like Dave T., Jeff C.,or Bob C. and so on.
The days of the Big late 80's airshows caused alot of infighting in the bunch, not suprisingly when you get alot of type A personalities in one place and try to get them to agree on something. There have been a few spin off groups since then. (New England Warbirds, Atlantic Warbirds)
Nobody has anything like the days of the C-47s, C-54 or the C-1 that flies.
The EAA Warbird Squadron 7 "The New England Squadron" is actually having their Annual Meeting this morning about 15 minutes from here.
I should probably stop in to say hello before going to work on the bug.


BTW: Its sad to know that one airplane in that picture is still owned by the same person, is still wearing those colors, and flies regularly.

ALSO: Look at all the "whitewash" all over both airplanes! I loved that hangar!

They musta flown to Nashua for lunch... saw a Navion 2-ship formation landing and an L-19 in the pattern at KASH 'round 11ish.

I caught up with Jimmy and Richard in their Navions at Beverly at 11:00.
Must have been Sophie and John and someone else up at ASH.
While driving through to BED I stopped into the Colonial to see who was there and say hello.
The GWF, Harland, Tom Shinkel and a few regulars were there.

Breakfast in BVY tomorrow morning!
