Parts needed for non-running Mk66 RR Merlin

Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:46 pm

Dear Sir:

I volunteer for a small Indiana museum www.indianamilitarymuseum.org and the project I am to tackle for next season is to bring the Rolls Royce Merlin Mk 66 we have up to display status. It has a cracked block that will be filled over during the re-do but we are missing parts also. As of yet I don’t know just what all is missing, because I don’t have a manual yet but, I do know both valve covers are missing for sure.
Any help you can give as to possible location of parts for this non-running display will be greatly appreciated. Also since we are a not-for–profit museum we would be willing to issue tax documents to any who would donate any needed parts for this project.
You can check out the Jumo 004 that was my project last year and the T-33 the year before on our web page to check out our sincerity concerning this project. These are under Exhibits & Collections then Aircraft Exhibits. Also see the following videos on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1WakfaA9Fo

Please consider this request to help me get what I need for this Merlin project.

Thank You
Frank Roales

Hi Frank:

Sorry, no joy on Merlin parts....

Where did you find the Jumo? The "before" sure looks like it was in a field!

The "after" looks great, BTW!

You guys are very active.

Regards,
James

James:
Thanks that was my project, we got it from the estate of a gentleman that had picked up a whole bunch of stuff in Europe and had it sent back to the US but then just let it sit in and old unused greenhouse for years. The Museum is moving over the winter to a new better located location in town near the George Rodgers Clark National park, just think what that's' going to require. The project I'm working on now is a TM76B Mace missile. If your ever in the area drop by and see us. I guide at the museum on Wednesdays noon to 4:00, but give me a shout and I'll give you the two bit tour anytime.
