I have a Sperry Directional Gyro, AF-45 S/N 2960, and wonder if there is a way to find out what aircraft this instrument might have come from? Also, is there any way to tell when the instrument was manufactured? Thanks :f4u:

what is the part number. The AF 45 in the serial number usually indicates the year manuf. If it a AN 5735 series it was used in all Army and some Navy aircraft. That is the fighters and bombers.. Most laison aircraft were not gyro equiped.
