Here's all those who have been searching for the tail mooring point and jackpoints for the C-47. Below is the mooring point, next week, the jackpad!

Are you needing one of these made? Or just posting reference?

Both..:) I dont have the time this week or next, but I will be making one unless someone is willing to make a donation!

There are about 5 C-47 groups I have dealt with and we are all looking for the same few parts, to include thetail mooring point and the jackpad. The Jackpad I will scan tomorrow and post and in hopes that it will allow others to make the items they need for their aircraft.

Heres the best I can do for the tail jackpad. The microfilm reader-printer had the zoom lense in it today and no sign of the 23x. So i had to copy and paste a few together.

Good Luck!

Check your P.M.s For anyone else that wants one, I'll just send you to the source. Part Number 2139438 available at:
sales@tradewindsaircraftsupplyinc.com
Also we are trying to put the football antenna on the C-47. We have the football, but does it go on a seperate mount or straight to the aircraft? If so does anyone have drawings or such a mount?

I'm a little confused about the jack pad you are discussing. On our C-47 there is a 3 bolt bad that bolts to the bottom of the fuse. in front of the tail wheel. Ours is broken off but dosen't look like the jack pad drawing posted. Where would this pad fit on the aircraft?
also, we are looking for a used tail wheel tire for our static display. Ony sources?
Thanks,
Curt

SEE the picture below. The part you are refering to is the Emergency Tail Skid. See Item 12 in the picture below. It bolts to the aircraft, and in case of emergency where the tail wheel comes off or was shot-off at the time of design, the aircraft had a hard surface to drop on so the airframe wasnt totaled. The mooring point (Item 11), bolts into the Skid plate to moor the aircraft down in high winds. The Jackpad ( Item 10 ) also slides into the Skid Plate for aircraft jacking. The mooring point and jackpad were inter-changable. You can only bolt in 1 at a time, Douglas just engineered a 3 function pad. The plate has a 1/4" slit down the middle from the rear to about an inch from the front. You can slide them in and place the 1 long bolt through the plate to lock in each one.

So are you are in need of 2115759, the Skid Plate?

Hope this clears it up.

As for tail wheels, you can call Desser Tire in California, they sell new and re-capped tires. For used ones maybe warbird parts . com.

Thanks for the drawing Dave. I don't have a parts manual here at home so that clears up the question. Yes, if we can affort it , we need the emergency tail skid (2115759) and the jack pad (2139438). Previous posts show source for the jack pad but does anyone have the tail skid available?
Thanks
Curt

I would try Tradewinds as previously posted for the jackpad. I have used them yet, but intend to for that matter. I have a supplier here in Cali. but is running it as a side business, so it can take months before I get anything. There is also a new supplier which i intend to annouce here on the web, he has 10 DC3s and over 110 Pages on spare inventory and will be trying to unload it all in chunks and or pieces.

More to follow soon i hope.
